This is not a "run the roadmap" Director role - it's a build-the-next-horizon role. You'll be the person placing MoEngage's biggest new product bets: spotting where the platform needs to go next, shaping the direction, and running several of these initiatives in parallel. Some of what you build will stay with your team for the long haul; others you'll incubate to proof-of-concept and then hand off to the PM or pod best placed to scale it.
Beyond new product bets, you'll also own how the Product org itself operates and communicates - from internal process and tooling improvements to how Product shows up in front of the board, the company, and the outside world.
If you've operated as a Product Strategy lead, Chief of Staff to a CPO, or a Director/ Group PM owning "0-to-1 and beyond" charters with real experience managing and mentoring other PMs, this role will feel familiar.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Identify the Right Bets: Before anything gets built, do the work of figuring out which 0-to-1 opportunities are worth pursuing at all - scanning market gaps, customer pain, competitive white space, and internal capability, building a business case, getting executive alignment, and making the call on what to prioritize (and what to explicitly not chase)
- Run Multiple 0-to-1 Initiatives: Scope and drive several new product bets in parallel. Build lightweight specs and MVPs, run lean experiments, and have the judgment to kill ideas fast when the data says no. For initiatives that graduate, decide whether they stay with your team or get transferred, and own that transition cleanly
- Strategic Intelligence → Product Strategy: Own the end-to-end intelligence layer that our product strategy is built on: Voice of Customer and Voice of Prospect signals, win/loss themes, competitor moves and positioning, and broader market and industry trends. Don't just report on these; synthesize them into a clear, defensible product strategy and point of view that the rest of the leadership team can act on
- M&A & Build-vs-Buy POV: Bring a product point of view into M&A conversations - evaluating targets, assessing build-vs-buy-vs-acquire tradeoffs, and shaping the integration plan once a deal closes. Our recent acquisition of Aampe to bring per-user, agentic decisioning natively into the platform is a live example of the kind of integration this role would help drive - from architecture fit to go-to-market sequencing
- Product Operations & Internal Improvement Projects: Identify and drive the process and tooling gaps that quietly slow the whole Product org down. Fix the gaps and define processes that unblock team members
- Product Narrative: Partner closely with Analyst Relations to shape and present MoEngage's product point of view to external analysts, press, and other outside stakeholders. Own quarterly and annual product communication to the Board, Executives, and at company town halls, translating strategy and roadmap progress into a narrative that lands with audiences
- Horizontal Initiatives: Own cross-cutting strategic initiatives that don't belong to any single pod - new metric frameworks, new pricing/packaging bets, or emerging capability areas as they arise
Requirements:
- 8+ years across Consulting, Go-to-Market, and Product Management, including at least 3 years managing and mentoring other PMs - experience in B2B SaaS, with meaningful time in product strategy, 0-to-1, or a Chief of Staff–to–product-leadership capacity
- Systems thinker: comfortable running several initiatives at once, knowing when to hold on to one and when to hand it off, without losing the thread on any of them
- Data-obsessed: you query rather than guess, and you can turn messy data (customer feedback, usage data, competitive intel) into a sharp, defensible narrative
- Operationally minded: you notice process and tooling gaps before they become blockers, and you’re willing to go fix them yourself rather than wait for someone else to
- Executive-ready communicator: you can write and deliver a board or town hall update, and represent Product’s point of view credibly to external analysts and stakeholders
- High bias to action: you’d rather ship a good version today and iterate than wait for a perfect plan next quarter
- Extreme ownership: you act like the business is yours - you don’t wait for a mandate to go fix what’s broken
